About Ishmin
Maestro Guillermo Arevalo Valera, also known as Kestembetsa — “Echo of the Universe” — is a renowned Shipibo healer from Peru who has dedicated his life to preserving and sharing the ancestral plant medicine of the Amazon. After studying nursing in Brazil, he chose the path of traditional healing, spending 18 months in isolation dieting master plants. Known as a “healer of healers,” he has founded healing centers, spoken at the United Nations, and leads ceremonies around the world, carrying the wisdom of his people to those seeking true healing.

Our goal is to protect these lands and the ancient vegetal knowledge they contain.

We are committed to preserving and sharing them with future generations of Maestros and Maestras.

It is Maestro Kestembetsa’s wish that this wisdom spread across the globe to help heal and awaken.
In Shipibo, the word Ishmin means “Condor,” an important bird in Shipibo cosmology, a messenger soaring higher than any other animal, connecting heaven to earth.

Ishmin Center is located deep in the Amazon rainforest, two hours from the city of Pucallpa in Eastern Peru. The Ucayali region is renowned for it’s dedicated Shipibo healers and is home to the Arevalo lineage. The jungle land Ishmin is located on has historical significance to the Arevalos, sacred to their ancestors for it’s rich spiritual energy and powerful plant spirit teachers.

Kestenbetsa is a world-renowned Shipibo Shaman and Curandero "Healer" of the Peruvian Amazon.
Since 2009, Hilda has been practicing plant dieting and working as a full-time Maestra. She now lives and manages the Ishmin Center in Peru, where she shares her ancestral knowledge through healing ceremonies and guidance. One of her unique gifts is working with roses and flowers — rare among Shipibo healers. She believes these plants help uplift the spirit and release emotional blocks, channeling the nurturing energy of the Divine Mother through her work.

A mother of seven, Hilda continues her healing path alongside her father, actively protecting the cultural and environmental heritage of her people. Her life is a powerful testament to resilience, tradition, and love for the Earth.
Hilda Arevalo Rojas is a Shipibo Maestra and spiritual healer, born in 1975 in a small Indigenous community on the border of Loreto and Ucayali in Peru. Coming from a long line of traditional healers, including her father Maestro Kestembetsa and her grandmother María, Hilda grew up surrounded by plant medicine and spiritual knowledge. From a young age, she assisted in healing practices and learned firsthand how traditional medicine could change lives.

Though her early life was rooted deeply in Shipibo culture and language, Hilda later attended a bilingual Indigenous institute, where she studied teaching and connected with other Amazonian tribes. These experiences strengthened her dedication to preserving her culture and passing it on to the next generation.
